South West Bohemia

The South Bohemia’s textile companies are historically concentrated into two regions – north Bohemia and south Bohemia. In the south, which is the part of NUTS 2 South West Bohemia, were in the past two big leading textile companies – Jitona and Fezko. After the Velvet revolution a number of further SME´s was established. They produce the textile mainly traditionally for clothes and industrial purposes. The mentioned great companies are still producing with the much smaller number of employees. Because of Asia competition the jobless rate in the whole region is higher then average.

University of West Bohemia

The Centre (NTC) was founded under the research and development programme of Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of the Czech Republic as a centre of applied research - subprogramme B with code LN00B084. The purpose of its work is to support the research and development activities in Westbohemian region with connections to Czech and international research and development teams. The Centre started its activity on July 3, 2000.
